Brunel are seeking an Aboriginal Land Management Specialist to work closely with the Communities senior leadership group, relevant business units and native title partners, developing and delivering a range of land management programs. The Specialist will assist to meet operational requirements and land management obligations, whilst supporting the aspirations of native title partners and will hold a central role in managing traditional lands during mining operations and in the closure environment.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Build new and leverage existing relationships with native title partners to understand each group’s aspirations to engage in land management activities such as fire management, seed collection, weed and feral pest management, mine rehabilitation, mine closure management and Aboriginal ranger programs.
  • Build awareness and appreciation for integrating traditional Aboriginal land management practices within contemporary resources sector land management.
  • Work with relevant business units to identify and provide opportunities for native title partners to provide the above services.
  • Identify and secure external funding sources to support the early-stage development of Aboriginal Land Management programs.
  • Build capability within native title partners groups to deliver the above services.



  • Experience in the development and delivery of Aboriginal Land Management programs.
  • Deep understanding of, and extensive experience working with Aboriginal people.
  • Ability to build relationships across large organisations and influence behaviours to ensure that potential Aboriginal land management opportunities are recognised and offered to external Aboriginal stakeholders.
  • Previous experience in the resources industry in the development and delivery of environmental management and land management programs.
  • An understanding of the regulatory and legislative framework applying to environmental management of the resources sector including operations, rehabilitation and closure.
  • Identification and sourcing of Government support for Aboriginal land management programs.
