About this role: Cartographer

  • Ensures and promotes the application of company HSE objectives, Safety Engineering rules / specifications and contractor compliance. Embrace anomalies reporting and promote attendance at company HSE events.
  • Accountable for the planning, execution, monitoring and close out of all delegated cartographic projects.
  • Delivers the optimum solution for the business.
  • Assists with the delivery of quality deliverables in accordance with confidentiality rules and procedures using various Visualization deliverables (CAD, GIS, Micro-station, Fledermaus) as appropriate.
  • Assists with the development and maintenance of all spatial registers including but not limited to rig moves, platform positions and slots, standalone wells, geotechnical boreholes, pipeline crossings, platform subsidence, mooring piles, historical surveys and rig moves, spud-can penetration, tidal information, etc.
  • Responsible for the recurrent publication of the company Marine Co-Activity charting.
  • Assists with the annual publication of the company Controlled Field Charts.
  • Collates and extracts relevant spatial data as part of the data QA/QC Process.
  • Maintain an awareness of new technologies and working methods in the field of Geomatics
  • Reports departmental endeavors to the Senior Cartographer with particular attention to decisions impacting EC activities.



  • MSc or BSc in Architecture, Civils’, Cartography or Geomatics with a land / hydrographic component.
  • Minimum 3 years’ recent experience as a Geomatics Cartographer with demonstrable understanding of geodesy, met-ocean, topographic, hydrographic, offshore construction, dimensional control, seismic and laser scanning methodologies.
  • Proficiency in a variety of applications including Geographic Calculator, AutoCAD Map 3D (expert), Bentley Micro-station (expert), ArcGIS Desktop (desirable), Fledermaus, Surfer and Notepad++. Knowledge of 3D Laser scanning processing and clash analysis would be an advantage.
  • Behavioral competencies: Good communication, coordination and collaborative skills.
