About this role

  • We’re hiring a Lead Accountant for our client, to join their growing team;
  • This is a permanent opportunity for Chennai Location.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for executing accounting policies and procedures involving the maintenance of general ledgers, asset and liability accounts, analysis of balance sheet accounts, and management financial reporting as the activity requires. Independently performs assignments requiring experience and knowledge of standard concepts within the field of accounting;
  • Responsible for Overhead Accounting which includes activities such as preparation or review/approve of entries, period end closing, reporting, variance analysis, budgeting & forecasting for the business unit;
  • Subject matter expert / Single point of contact role for the responsibilities assigned;
  • Individual contributor role as of now involving complex activities and may evolve as a team leader role (approx. 4 members) over a period of time;
  • Should be willing to take transition and/or work on process stabilization;
  • This role will report into a Supervisor / Manager;
  • Should adhere to all controls and compliance including SOX / business controls applicable for the activities assigned;
  • This role will need to liaise across teams for information; being a team player is a must;
  • High stakeholder engagement at Senior levels in a global environment.



Qualifications – Skill Requirements – Experience Levels (Additional Requirements)

  • A qualified accountant with a minimum of 6 years post qualification (CA/CWA/ACCA/CIMA/CPA);
  • Should possess strong accounting knowledge, GAAP / IFRS and SOX Controls;
  • Candidates with strong experience in General Accounting with exposure to Financial Reporting and FP&A preferred with large multi-national organization of repute;
  • Candidates with experience in handling new process transition and stabilization of the processes post transition preferred;
  • Candidates with hands on experience in SAP, Costpoint, HFM / EPM preferred;
  • Team handling experience would be an added advantage;
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to details;
  • Experience of working in a virtual environment and dealing with stakeholders spread across regions from diverse background and nationalities;
  • Business savvy, ability to work with tight timelines and pressure;
  • Strong interpersonal skills including communication (both verbal and written) and articulation.
