About this role

Brunel's global oil & gas client have a permanent opportunity for an experienced mechanical engineer to join their business. The role will assist with supporting upcoming project work and will be based in their Perth office.

  • Ensure mechanical scope is delivered in line with the project BOD, schedule, scope of work, project specs and relevant standards and is technically fit for purpose.
  • Ensure critical mechanical scope has had appropriate Technical Authority and/or subject matter expert review
  • Provide day to day support to project on mechanical engineering matters
  • Provide technical support to Engineering and Procurement (EP) contractor during detailed design phase and Implementation contractor (IC) during construction phase
  • Liaise with Mechanical Lead and Technical Authorities for approval of technical queries outside of project authority
  • Successful testing and Commissioning of project scopes
  • Technical coordination of project interfaces with the operating facility


  • Strong analytical skills
  • Highly effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with other specialist disciplines to influence change
  • Self-motivated and adaptable with the ability to work effectively as an individual and in a team environment
  • Experience in design, engineering, installation, testing and commissioning of mechanical systems and equipment
  • Working knowledge through direct experience working with mechanical equipment in an LNG processing facility which includes piping, pressure vessels, valves, pumps and utility equipment. Desirable
  • Demonstrated experience in a mechanical engineering role in the oil & gas sector
  • A working knowledge of design procedures, relevant standards and regulations
  • Ability to utilise technical expertise to find practical solutions to challenging problems effectively and efficiently
  • Experience in root cause analysis
