Brunel is currently seeking an experienced Sales Engineer for direct hire with our client who is a supplier to the automotive and New Energy Vehicle industry. Remote position can sit in Ohio, Arizona, California, Texas or the Carolinas.

Position Summary:

The Sales Engineer is the central point of contact for new customers during the pre-start-of-production (pre-SOP) stage of the sales cycle. Additionally, the Sales Engineer is responsible for all aspects of a project from the development stage through customer implementation, including but not limited to defining scope and resources, managing the day-to-day operational aspects of projects, and ensuring the project meets agreed upon milestones and key performance indicators (KPIs). This position reports directly to the Business Development Manager, North America and works closely with Engineers, business development, engineering services, and operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Central point of contact and technical expert for potential new customers
  • Act as liaison between internal departments and supply base
  • Analyze and respond to customer Requests for Quotation (RFQs) as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with the Account Manager to analyze existing customer base and identify opportunities for growth
  • Collaborate with Engineers during latter stages of sales cycle and throughout customer implementation.
  • Responsible for all aspects of projects from development to implementation, including project scope and resources, project management / documentation / reporting, tracking and reporting of internal and external KPIs, as well as ensuring project is on time and on budget while meeting all quality standards.
  • Drive cross-functional project teams (i.e., engineering, purchasing, sales, logistics, etc.)
  • Support and develop the standards and methodologies to be used in a project.
  • Provide on-site support as needed; identify project risks and act as point of escalation as appropriate.
  • Responsible for the technical aspects regarding fastener-related issues and joint problems and developing fastener applications.
  • Identify, investigate, and promote new fastener technologies of suppliers for customers




  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field required
  • 5+ years’ experience in a sales engineer role required within the automotive sector
  • Fastener experience preferred
  • New Energy Vehicle (NEV) experience is highly desired.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills required
  • Experience successfully working in cross-functional teams.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication skills; able to create and deliver presentations
  • Ability to read technical drawings and specifications required
  • Knowledge of automotive quality processes and tools (e.g., PPAP, G8D, FMEA)
  • Experience with quality standards and requirements (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO 14001)
  • Strong quantitative and analytical capabilities; ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex information and apply to practical situations.
  • Proven history of personal initiative, efficiency, attention to detail, managing multiple projects simultaneously, and performing quality work within deadlines with or without supervision.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to customer sites in various geographies; most travel will be within the U.S., but some international travel may be required. Travel up to 70%.
  • PC proficiency required, including MS Office. Knowledge of CAD software tool and/or other industry-specific or custom software a plus.
