Brunel is currently searching for a Lead Buyer for direct hire with our mining client in Denver, Colorado.

The purpose of this position is to deliver procurement support for goods and services to company projects in Canada and the USA. This role will drive efficient buying activities, integrating purchasing and logistics functions to achieve lower operational costs.


  • Formulate requirements, plan, and purchase the range of materials according to the project schedule
  • Manage day to day relationship with local suppliers and service providers
  • Monitor supplier’s performance, record KPI’s, ensure delivery on time is achieved
  • Analise changes in material demand to aid with the inventory planning and sourcing decisions
  • Develop, co-ordinate and lead sourcing activities with the regional and national suppliers
  • Motivate, lead, train and develop procurement team, hands on approach
  • Actively contribute as a member of the Supply Chain Team and communicate with stakeholders across the organization
  • Identify productivity and cost reduction opportunities
  • Participate and contribute to safe practice and environmental awareness
  • Produce periodic reports as directed by management team
  • Responsible for reviewing supplier agreements and negotiating rates




  • Demonstrated understanding of the supply chain fundamentals in the mining industry (demand, procurement, logistics, warehousing, material costing)
  • Minimum of 5 years national buying experience and demonstrated ability to manage buying function in a multi business unit environment
  • Experience in sourcing product from multiple local vendors
  • Strong negotiation & influencing skills
  • Knowledge and experience with procuring commodities used in the underground mining industry
  • Strong commercial and analytical skills
  • Strong computer skills, including Excel, Word & Outlook
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Knowledge of U.S. and Canadian markets
  • MUST be eligible to work in the U.S. for any employer without sponsorship.
