We’re hiring an experienced Technical Services Advisor – Americas, to join our client’s team. The Senior Advisor will work closely with the Technical Services and Sales teams, Research and Development, Regulatory, Quality Assurance, Marketing, and Global Supply Chain departments to provide application based technical expertise, product application knowledge, and data management in order to support the Lubricants Sales organization in gaining, developing and maintaining business and customer relationships.


  • Support the White Oils & Specialties team, their distributors and end-use customers with;
    • Business development & lead generation.
    • Gathering competitive, market and application specific information.
  • Act as the technical subject matter expert for segment product applications to support sales to grow existing and obtain new business in various segments, while developing strong relationships.
  • Develop, modify and deliver technical application based presentations and organize and participate in training seminars to peers, end users, distributors and industry organizations.
  • Co-ordinate, lead and/or monitor and support customer qualification of existing products.
  • Assist R&D with pre-commercialization prototype product trials to input into the development and launching of new products.
  • Act as liaison between HFLS for Customer product approvals: OEM, drug submissions, regulatory notifications, etc.
  • Investigate and resolve product application problems by conducting root cause analysis while working with research and development (R&D) and quality personnel in resolving perceived product quality issues.
  • Share industry-specific field knowledge to internal stakeholders regarding product performance, customer and regulatory needs, perceived threats and industry trends.
  • Provide back-up technical support to other technical services advisors in other geographies and segments as required.
  • Value file contribution by capturing support and efficiencies developed.
  • Support sales team with Supply Chain logistics and product handling inquiries.
  • Support and/or Capture New ideas on Bright Idea platform after building adequate business case.
  • Conduct application research project and analysis to support strategic planning and development of market plans.
  • Support Customer Audits as needed.
  • Assist the OSPs with coordination of Distributor Packaging Validation initiatives on behalf of Sales under direction of QA.
  • Act as liaison into any changes in business processes and procedures that may impact the customers and their compositions.
  • Provide back-up technical support to other technical services advisors in other geographies and segments as required.




  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a petroleum, base oils, lubricants and/or specialties related field and experience working with petroleum product development, testing protocols, application based product development and performance.
  • A minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or, a combination of education and relevant work experience will also be considered.
  • An exceptional Safety Mindset and ability to work safely at all times when unsupervised.
  • Excellent knowledge of lubricants development, testing protocols, equipment application and performance, and equipment reliability.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial and industrial specialty products and their applications in a wide range of industries, including food, general manufacturing, personal care, adhesives, pharmaceutical, plastics and polymers, etc.
  • Knowledge of base oil refining technologies and chemical industry processes and the chemical effects imparted on white oils and specialties(petrolatum, waxes, etc.) by those technologies.
  • Working knowledge of the food, pharma and personal care regulations.
  • Advanced computer literacy in Microsoft Office suite and database management.
  • Ability to lead customer acceptance trials as well as comprehensive investigations and root cause analysis to resolve perceived product quality issues.
  • Strong interpersonal skills coupled with excellent written communication and oral presentation skills for audiences of varying sizes, backgrounds, and levels of expertise.
  • Demonstrate proactive continuous improvement and initiative to build best in class processes with excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams as well as working independently with minimal supervision.

    Nice to Have:

  • Having worked in prior technical role where product application, product properties and product testing was an integral part of the role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Science is preferred.
  • Experience using SAP and customer relationship management (CRM) mobile sales.
