Seeking a Well Engineer to work in Brisbane. This will be for a contract lasting 12 months initially.

Brunel Australasia are currently partnered with our client who is one of Australia’s leading natural gas producers. They have a great reputation for creating a safety-focused culture, whilst they expand their operations in Queensland’s onshore gas reserves.

Brunel are partnering with a major international Oil and Gas company to find a Well Engineer.

Wells Engineer (WE) role for front-end engineering work, and operational support of drilling and completion operations involved with Water well, Coal Seam Gas and Tight Gas Sand activities
Well Delivery Process (Front End Design)

  • Responsible for compliance to the Global Well Delivery Process milestones, deliverables and associated time lines.
  • Assists in Field Development Planning work (Wells engineering input) for development projects. Prepares departmental input for well proposals and ensures that the well proposals are optimized with respect to well quality, HSE and cost efficiency, through Unit Cost Challenge sessions and Shared Objective Workshops.
  • Designs wells (conceptual designs), generates cost estimates Type 1, 2 & 3. Manage the generation of activity proposals. Prepares proposed activities in full compliance with Company procedures, policies and guidelines. Ensure all required Assurance tasks are completed in time according to the Wells PCAP.
  • Monitors and ensure all pre-rig activities for the drilling activities planned in his / her Asset, Exploration or Study department are booked in IAP. Input into medium to long term planning and scheduling of personnel, materials, equipment and services required for the proposed well operations.
  • Initiates and implements new techniques to improve performance and actively pursues input from other Shell Wells and discipline expertise holders, working across organizational boundaries to foster an interdisciplinary delivery model.
  • Manages compliance with SIMOPS procedures and specific SIMOPS Safety Cases if needed.
  • Responsible for specifying QGC Wells installed equipment per company, Shell, industry and regulatory standards.
  • Works in multi-disciplined teams with Geologists, Reservoir Engineers and Production Technologists on field development studies and well projects. Manages the interface between the Asset and the Wells execution team
  • Assisting during execution of the wells as required by the Well Operations Team Lead.
  • Conducting AAR and incorporating learning’s into subsequent programs



  • Bachelor degree in related engineering discipline.
  • 8+ years in well engineering/operations with a wide variety of technically complex land drilling projects. Experience with coal seam gas drilling and completions operations is preferred but not required.
  • Exposure to project leadership with understanding of the interaction/dependencies between E&P disciplines (subsurface, surface, drilling and production). Understand performance improvement processes such as deliver the limit. A proven track record in delivering projects and championing initiatives.
  • Holds HSSE as a core value by making HSSE Goal Zero an integral part of work cycle in planning, designing and executing well work.
  • Demonstrates enterprise-first behavior with exceptional communication skills.
  • Both Supervisory experience and Office Operations Engineer experience is prerequisite
  • Key competence required: Front-End well engineering skills & Planning and drilling operations skills
